DTV converter boxes-which ones don't work?
I just got a Philco DTV converter box, and in less than 24 hours I had problems.
Audio sometimes doesn't come in when going thru the converter box while at the same time I can switch to the channel thru the normal TV setting and get perfect sound
Sometimes sound is distorted.
Also, sometimes the description says that there is SAP (second audio input--for other languages) & I press the button on the control to switch to the other audio and nothing happens
Also, changing channels is soooooooo slow. It's ridiculous.
So, are any of you having problems with your brand of DTV converter box?
Which ones are rated highest? Are there online ratings of these converter boxes, or some site where it will tell you what features to look for?
also, it won't work with my VCR at all.
I had my antenna wired thru my VCR & then to my TV.
Now I just added an extra point in the chain by installing the antenna to the converter box to the VCR & then to the TV--just one extra link to the same set up I had before. But now it won't work if I do that.
If I eliminate the VCR & link antenna to converter box to TV, then it will work, but with the audio problems I mentioned.

What's wrong with my DTV Converter Box?
I got one of these Philco DTV Converter Boxes with one of those discount cards. It seems to be stuck in "RF Through" mode. I can't get it to hard reset.
Basically the unit worked fine when I first got it, but after a couple of hours, it seemed to have gotten stuck somehow in RF Through mode. When I turn on the unit, I can see the reception from my antenna, but when I turn the unit off, reception cuts out. When I press "Setup", nothing comes up. I have left the unit unplugged for over a week in an attempt to hard reset it; no avail.
