Choosing A Flat Panel Television
Choosing A Flat Panel Television.
Just one secret in choosing a nice flat panel television only involves checking some numbers.
Many of us have been in the television section of a department store or electronics store and have seen the line up of all the different flat panel televisions. The number of sets to choose from can make a purchase decision a little more difficult than it has to be.
This article talks about a way to cut that tough decision in half, making your work a little easier in choosing a television.
When shopping for your flat panel television, look at the information posted on the display model. Look for a number followed by the letters hz', such as 60hz or 120hz.
By looking for these numbers, you are looking for a set that can give you the cleanest and finest motion of images on the screen. This especially holds true with sets that are 40 inches or bigger, when the jpeg-ing of images is far more noticeable as fast images move across the screen.
Example: On a 47 inch set with a 60hz recycle rate, you will notice real fine dots and speckles following fast moving images in the screen images, and the images may not be as attractive as they could be with a set that has a 120hz recycle rate.
With any flat panel television set, especially the bigger ones a recycle rate of 120 or even better can produce a far better picture and cleaner sharper images that move quickly across the screen. This is a method of shopping that anyone who watches sports or fast moving action movies will absolutely be thankful for.
At the time of this article (11/2009) there are plenty of flat panel televisions with a 60hz recycle rate. There are some televisions with a recycle rate of 120hz, but you have to seek them out. As time goes on, more televisions may be coming out with 120hz or better.
Obviously, the higher the recycle rate the better the picture is going to be. As I mentioned above this is especially noticeable in larger televisions. The larger the set, the more noticeable the jpeg-ing is going to be on 60hz sets.
60hz versus 120hz, look at the numbers. Clearly, the recycle rate of a 120hz set is exactly twice as fast as a 60hz set. That's what anyone would want, isn't it.

I was raised in Wisconsin as a hard working individual. As a teenager I worked on a farm until I became a adult. I have never worked less than two jobs at a time until I turned 44. I don't, (and never have) smoke, drink, drug or gamble. In 2005 I successfully gave up caffeine entirely and haven't had any since. My hobbies are automobiles, electronics, driving and photography. I have many friends, and I am well known in the tri-village area I live in. My adult careers that stayed with me long term are commercial driver' and loss prevention agent'. My dislikes in life include bullies, the civilian ownership of exotic' firearms, organized crime, pornography and people who beat females and children.
