CRT Televisions Verses LCD HDTV Television Sets
Is it time to buy a TV? You have 2 main options - the old CRT models or the new LCD HDTV television sets that are available today. Discover the differences between LCD HDTV and CRT televisions, and find out which is the best option to go with.
Everyone or at least the biggest majority of people will have seen a CRT television set. These television sets work with a cathode ray tube system. And you will know them, when you see them, because they are bulky and take up a lot of space.
Today, people are opting to go with the LCD HDTV television sets. It is new, and has the latest technology. Not to mention all the other benefits that comes with it. However, there is one main reason why you would buy a CRT television, and that is because of price.
Most of the CRT televisions today can be purchased used. So, if you want to buy a television for next to nothing, then this is the way to go. However, if you can afford LCD HD TV, you will find much more benefits.
The LCD HD TV sets available today are simply amazing. They come with high definition technology, which is the latest in pristine quality sound and audio. Compared with CRT televisions, you will find that the LCD TV sets present a much better image.
Resolution on the HDTV LCD TV sets is much higher than existing CRT televisions, which is essential with the applications that televisions work with today. Not only are you viewing movies any more, but are having entertainment systems such as the Sony PlayStation 3, which is like a computer.
All these uses need a television set that is up to the challenge. And today's LCD HD TV sets allow you to get the most out of all these uses. We don't know what the future holds, and if today's technology needs high definition, then the technology of tomorrow will definitely need a LCD HD TV.
There is a big reason not to go with CRT televisions, and that is the high definition aspect. You will be hard pressed to find a CRT television with high definition. CRT is bulky and takes up a lot of space; however the LCD HDTV sets are slim, and lightweight.
You can even hang a LCD HDTV set onto a wall, which for big cathode ray televisions, this was next to impossible. Which ever option you choose, when you put the TV somewhere, then it is likely it is a permanent place for the television, however, it is good to be able to move the television with ease, instead of having to break a sweat every time.
From a price point of view, the LCD HD TV sets available today are coming down in price, making them accessible to all people. The main reason why you would buy a CRT television is because of buying used or being on a tight budget.
If you can afford a LCD HDTV set, then I strongly suggest going with high definition. It will benefit you much more in the long term, not to mention that you will have the latest technology which is essential.

Why am I getting a bad picture when I hook my DVD player to the HD television via component cables?
I am trying to figure this out for my parents. They have a Toshiba HDTV television set, and I have been trying to get them a better picture. They have always used S-video. And while it looks good, I know that component cables deliver a MUCH better picture (this, at least, has always been my experience). The problem is that when I DO hook up the component cables, the picture is MUCH worse than with S-video. I've checked it multiple times, and I've even tried two different DVD players. And I know the component cables are good because I JUST bought them, and they are heavy duty ones. But just to eliminate any doubt, I had tried a different set of component cables prior to this new set I bought. The S-video picture is a good, clear picture. But when I hook up the component cables, the picture gets VERY grainy and just looks rough. It doesn't make any sense. Like I said, I've used component hookups for years on my own stuff, so I know it's good. I just can't figure it out. Help!

HDTV Set compatible with cable?
Okay my Windstream cable comes through a motorola digital box. Most of the channels are the kind that come with basic cable package but some are the channels you get with a digital package. Now I have noticed that high on the channel grid there is a 20 channels that are the same as what we already have but they are labeled HDTV channels. Does this mean that if we got a HDTV television set that only those twenty would be watchable? It really doesn't seem worth if thats true.

Blurry 52" RCA HDTV television set?
I have a RCA 52" tv with the speaker grill in the front and everything. It is about 5-8 years old and has been working fine. But for the past few months i have noticed it has been getting blurry. Especially on the bottom left hand corner. When there are letters they are extremely blurry in that corner and almost have a double image effect. but the picture gets better on the other three corners. Overall though it is somewhat blurry image.
I was wondering if anyone knew how to fix this. I have gone to the menu and worked the image controls but does nothing to fix the problem.
I have heard that behind the speaker grill there are focus controls but i dont quite know how to remove the speaker grill without breaking it and people have had no luck fixing the image with these controls. Any help fixing this problem would be greatly appreciated.
