HDTV - Things to Consider Before Buying HDTV
With all new HDTV being announced in the tv market, all of them claim to have advanced technology features which encourage you to get another tv although you already have one. However, buying an HDTV is a long term investment, there are several important things you need to think about before invest your money on any new hdtv model.
Despite the slowdown of world economic, more and more HDTV model being announced, with all new features of advanced technologies whether it be 3d tv or led tv, encourage you to buy a new hdtv without delay.
However, buying an HDTV is a long term investment, there are several important things you need to think about before invest your money on any new hdtv model:
1. What HDTV size suitable for you?
You may need to check your room size and its available space including your viewing distance. Since HDTV's resolution is far greater than SDTV therefore you can sit anywhere closer than SDTV which is from 1.5 to 3 times the screen size in inches. For example, if your viewing distance 4 metres which is around 157.5 inches, therefore the maximum size of your tv would be 105 inch and minimum size would be 52 inch.
2. TV color and style
Well, this is seem to be only small point but somehow it's also important, the same 32 inch led hd tv will surely have little different style for different brand, so it's best to select the style and color to matches your room's color and existing furnitures.
3. What HDTV features do you really need?
Do you need 720p or 1080p, which 1080p will provide higher viewing resolution? If you are the fan of sport tv you may have to look for a 120Hz or 200Hz LCD which will give a smooth motion for faster action, while you may need to consider waterproof feature if you need that tv for your kitchen or bathroom.
4. Brand
Which brand is best for you - may need to think about which feature do you need such as being able to connect the internet, play the game, etc. You can also go to any tv review website or forum to see what others are saying about any specific brand/model.
5. Price
This is the most important for your buying decision. If you are shopping on a limited budget, consider smaller screen may save your money. Be sure to check and compare tv prices online, most tv retailers offer cheaper price online. One more thing not to forget is to check the shipping price. Some online shop may offer you cheaper price for television but they get more money from shipping rate. So make sure to add tv price and shipping rate together plus tax rate (if their prices excluding vat) when compare.
6. Where to buy?
The good start is to check the shop who currently offer best price online whether they have good reputation, how reliable they are? You should also check their return policy and how they ship the product?

Was anyone else obsessed with all the gauges an +/- lines on CNN during the debate?
I watched the HDTV signal (regular TV might be different).....but the wife and I followed every change of the lines ("oh, the green one is going up"). Even the 'analyst gauges' on the side were interesting, but I was disappointed they didn't turn into pie charts as the scores changed.
I barely noticed the candidate's reactions.

HDTV resolution questions?
Ok, we came from CRT 480i resolution to the HD era, right? 1920x1080 is the format for 1080p "full HD", but you have some TVs with native resolutions of 1366x768.
My question is why is there no (1366x768) 768p HDTV signal, instead of the (1280x720) 720p which these TV must down convert to?? Is a 768p signal not possible or something?
Also, with 1,049,088 pixels how does this resolution handle 1080i signal?
Thanks for your answers!
-Dennis
