Recently I purchased a PROSCAN 47" 1080p 240Hz LCD TV. When I first played Black Ops on it however, I experienced very noticeable lag (I'm VERY fine tuned to this game and even 50 ms lag is noticeable...maybe even 40 ms). I made sure the XBox was outputting 720p which I believe is its optimal setting and still feel the lag. Now as I understand it, the lag comes from the time it takes to convert the picture being input, to what the TV wants to output the image quality as. Now I've read many things in my research. I've heard plasma is the best, LCD is the best, and LED is the best. I can never get a clear answer, but I also understand it depends on the company. I've heard many good things about Sony, Samsung, and Panasonic as well. In terms of Hz, in my head a higher refresh rate seems beneficial no matter how I look at it, but on some sites I've read that a higher refresh rate can influence the lag more. So I guess here's checklist of questions I have:
-Is there a CLEAR difference between LCD, LED, and Plasma? And if so, pros / cons?
-If the Xbox wants to output 720p, should I get a 720p TV? or will it be just fine as 1080p?
-What is the ideal refresh rate? (If it matters I'm looking at the 42" - 46" range)
-What company Truly makes TVs with no noticeable game lag? Sony? Panasonic? Samsung?
-Does a TV with "game mode" really make a difference? Or will I just be playing a laggy game that now looks as bad as it feels?
