Buy LCD TV
I was leaning towards a 50" plasma, saw a lovely Panasonic in Currys for 899, can't remember the model, but a friend has now steered me back towards a 47" LCD. I'm not a "fanboy" of either LCD or Plasma, my living room TV is a 40" Samsung and I love it. My friend on the other hand, wouldn't touch Plasma with a barge pole. Also, he thinks 50" is too big for the room. My bedroom is quite large, 2 rooms combined by knocking in a wall. Total length from viewing to TV is probably about 24/25 feet.
So a few queries, is 50" too big? Am I better with a 46" or 47"? And what is the best option for the money? I have looked at a few and I'll just list the LCD ones here, since it is the LCD forum! The TV will mainly be for SD Sky viewing, and not even from a box. The box is downstairs but will be viewed upstairs using one of those magic eye type things. Will also have a Wii and DVD player connected. So 1080p and the other high quality things are not that important at this stage, but at some point this TV may become my main downstairs set so I am thinking ahead.
TV - Samsung LE46B551A 46" 1080p LCD TV
TV - LG 47LH3000 47" 1080p LCD TV
Sony KDL-46W4000 - 46" Widescreen 1080P Full HD Bravia: Amazon.com
That's just from my first quick search. Any other suggestions, and the best places to buy would be good. I live in Ireland so I need somewhere who can deliver to the Republic or North of Ireland. There is a Currys store nearby in the North.

how come my laptop / HDTV connection only works in VGA Mode?
I have an extra monitor output on my presario M2000, and an input on my VIZIO HDTV, but my pc keeps shutting down in normal mode when their connected. However, in VGA Mode, they work, the TV mirrors my laptop screen, and all the icons a clean looking. But when I try to look a video or pictures, they are heavily pixilated. No adjustment changes the appearance.
How can I watch a movie on my HDTV through my laptop??
normal = turn on and let it boot as usual.
VGA mode = hit F8 during boot, and select VGA mode.

Please Help me solve this PC to HDTV connection problem....?
When I connect my PC to my Sony Bravia HDTV with a HDMI cable, I notice that all the graphics on the screen have wierd sharp white edges. These edges are every where even on the mouse pointer. During this time the resolution is 1080P and my PC has 8800 GT card. Strangely all the videos run fine. Only on the desktop and games dose the white edges appear and ruin the picture quality. The HDMI cable is of the highest quality aswell. So please tell me what I need to do to fix this wierd issue ??? thanks
