How to make my TV screen into desktop monitor?

Ok so i want to use my 42 inch flat screen tv for my desktop monitor....how do i do it? lol i know its possible cuz i went to the doctors office and we were watching TV and all of a sudden he turned the TV screen into his computer monitor. Ok well my keyboard and mouse are wireless so no worry bout those. Just the monitor. plz help[ 10 points

Your 42" flat screen TV should have HDMI ports. Those can be connected to a computer graphics card's DVI port by using a DVI-to-HDMI cable.

If your computer only has the older VGA port, then you need to look and see if your TV has a VGA port too. If it does, you use a standard VGA monitor cable.

I'm using a DVI-to-HDMI cable to connect my computer to my 52" LCD HDTV. Works perfectly. http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f347/a…
