Playstation 3 or BD-HP2OU SHARP Player.?

I have a SHARP Aquos 47 inch 1080p LCD HD TV, and am looking to upgrade my dvd collection to blu-ray and am wondering, visual/audio quality speaking, which would be better to get. Also, does the Playstation 3 upconvert regular dvd's to 1080p and, if so, how does it fair in compared with the SHARP player.

Additional Details

BTW I do not, at all, care about the playstations game playing abilities. My question is in STRICT regards to the video and audio quality of it's blu-ray, and upconversion components. I shall ask AGAIN:
Does the Playstation 3 have 1080p upconversion, and if so, is it better than the SHARP player. Also, how does it's blu-ray player match up against the SHARP player, and YES I do have an hdHDMI cable.

The PS3 does not decode TrueHD like other Blu Ray players. If top sound quality is important I would go with another player.

I would go with the ps3. I havent seen the sharp blu-ray yet but I have the sony s-350 and still use my ps3 for movies. It updates via the internet and you can still play games on it. It loads right up when you put a movie in and does upconvert regular dvd. At least it looks better to me. If you do get the ps3 make sure you spend the extra $20 on the dvd remote, its well worth it.

The PS3 is my favorite component except for my SVS PB 13 Ultra subwoofer. This thing does it all. It lets you play SACD's, connect to the interwebs to watch YouTube on your big screen, up convert all your old cd's/mp3's to actually sound quite decent, and you can even rent HD movies on this machine! They are constantly adding new features via firmware upgrades downloaded directly from the internets. It has the fastest blu ray start up time of any current player, and is one of the few profile 2.0 players available.

I originally bought mine strictly as a blu ray player, but soon found out that the games on this thing are insanely realistic, and the audio in surround sound while gaming has to be heard to believe. All in all, I am in awe of this beast, and am not even keeping up with the new player market because I know I already have the best.
