LCD stands for Liquid Crystal Display.
DLP stands for Digital Light Picture.
DLP is one of a few different types of rear-projection TV's. These are the TV's that are flat-screen but NOT flat-panel meaning you can't mount them on a wall (cause they have a tush so to speak).
I have the Sony KDS-60A3000. Its Sony's rear-projection HDTV. It uses SXRD which is a variation of LCOS (Liquid Crystal On Silicon).
Now to what you really want to know. The picture quality on my TV is amazing. Also the price ($1,700) for a 60" TV was fantastic. BUT as I mentioned before its NOT mountable. I have to put it on a table--I cannot mount it on the wall.
So heres your answer: This Sony projection HDTV looks as good if not better than many LCD or plasma TV's. If you go with Sony you're virtually guaranteed a high level of quality. If you care about money go with projection HDTV's--you'll save a lot. If you care about mountability go with LCD or plasma--you'll save a lot of space in your house.
Oh and Vizio is just the name of a brand like Sony or Panasonic. Hope I helped!

DLP are projectors or deep backed sets. They use spinning mirrors and color filters to create the picture you see.
LCDs and Plasma are the thin sets that can sit on a stand of hang on the wall. Both of these have pros and cons, from brightness to reflections. Look at them in a store.
To see some good pricing look at www.bestbuyplasma.com
    - I have no connection but found their pricing stunning in comparison and I purchased a Panasonic from them last fall (those sets still have up to $200 rebate right now too)

Go with Samusung or Toshiba LCD...you can do an easy comparison on numerous websites...stay away from the generic brands and Maganavox, RCA, Sansui, etc...
