Vizio 42" LCD HDTV 1080p
I recently decided to make the move from my old, beat up analog TV to an HDTV (High Definition) There are so many options out there. LCD, DLP, 1080p, 780p, 1080i ad infinitum. How do you know what to get?
I did some research and found that for what I wanted, I was going to get a full HD television. That meant 1080p (the 'p' stands for progressive scan as opposed to interlaced scan or 'I') Progressive scan means that each video frame is transmitted in a single sweep line by line top to bottom, interlaced also provides a picture line by line, but only every other line. LCD TVs are for the most part progressive scan. I went and looked at several TVs and decided that the 1080p looked better to me, all the technical jargon aside. I settled on the Vizio 42" LCD HDTV. It was a decent price; $849.99 at Target, and has many nice features. You can view this set for a total of 178 degrees, which translates to everyone being able to see the picture from all over the room. Connecting the Vizio 42" LCD HDTV to my peripheral components was a breeze. There are four HDMI inputs. From my research, I found that using an HDMI cable gives you the best picture and sound. I have a satellite connection, and this connected perfectly. I had already gotten a new DVD player, and already had a good surround sound system. Playback of my DVD movies is great on this set. The Vizio 42" LCD HDTV has picture in picture which is great when you want to check out the game on one channel, while watching the news, for example. The picture on the Vizio 42" LCD HDTV is fantastic.. I had read some negative stories about LCD TVs sometime back, and wasn't sure about getting one. I did look at the picture in the store, watched for a while, and found that there is little blur to motion on the Vizio. It is a good thing that I have a decent surround sound system though, because the speakers that are installed in the Vizio 42" LCD HDTV leaves a lot to be desired. They are too loud, and vibrate when there is any music playing base. I have had top turn the sound on the TV all the way down. For the most part I have to say that this turned out to be a good investment. I am pleased with the Vizio 42" LCD HDTV. which LCD TV should i buy?
My son broke my 42" LG LCD TV, i was told not to have it repaired and just buy a new one, can some recommend a good but not so expensive full HD LCD TV (42" up). and does anyone know where to buy it cheaply in the U.K. preferably in London (or websites). thanks!!

Why does my tv go from dark to light?
I have a 42 LG LCD TV 120 Hertz. It sometimes goes from darker to lighter on the screen. It does this when i am playing my PS3, Movies, or even just on regular cable occasionally. It is a brand new TV and doesnt do it alot but will every once in awhile. Just wondering if there is something wrong with it and i should send it back or if there are some kind of settings that i need to set to get it to work right. Thank you!
